Picker Pals is a FREE environmental education programme from Voice Ireland that’s focused on litter-picking.  The programme is best suited to children aged 6-9 years old. It’s delivered through English and As Gaeilge and is easily adaptable for teachers of special classes to meet the needs of their students.

Picker Pals inspires young children to lead their families on litter-picking adventures in their local communities.  The magic of the programme is how much children love getting their turn to take the special “Picker Pack” home for the weekend so that they can become “the environmental boss” in their family. 

They also love reporting back to their classmates about what they found when they return the pack to school.  The programme runs all year on a rotating basis whereby one child takes the pack at a time and reports back to their class about their litter-picking adventure on a weekly basis, meaning the habit of talking about the environment from the perspective of active contributors becomes normal for the children and embeds a sense of responsibility in them.

Teachers consistently report that Picker Pals is incredibly easy to run in class, as everything is provided to them. Voice Ireland also deliver fun and informative online lessons, video content and competitions throughout the year.
