Minding Me

Mayo Minding me

Puppets explore emotions using stories, breath and nature play.

Children aged 4-7years help Bellie the badger (Cork presenter Ray Cuddihy) and Whizz the hare (Gráinne Bleasdale, Ros na Run) to allow stuck emotions flow through body and mind.

Westport-based Breathwork and mindfulness expert Derval Dunford www.sui.ie worked with GMarsh TV Crossmolina on this brand new RTE series Minding Me, something very special for home and classroom use. Derval has worked with over 10,000 school teachers and produced Ireland’s first mindfulness CDs for adults and also for children. She presently works with U.S. psychiatrists Gerbarg and Brown teaching trauma-informed breathwork teachers.

The design of each 8 min episode makes it a perfect cross-curricular lesson including SPHE, SESE and creativity. Each episode is also a fun uplifting and informative life lesson for home use. Each episode focuses on a different emotion.

Children’s mental health is supported as Minding Me provides an inclusive approach to emotional well-being, recognising and regulating feelings like anger, jealousy, and anxiety.

The breath exercises will also be uploaded for individual use after each episode.

The first episode aired Monday September 30th, remaining episodes will air daily at 7.50am and are repeated 5.45pm daily on RTÉjr. Minding me is also available to stream on the RTE player, watch here.

The series was produced by GMarsh TV for RTÉjr in association with Coimisiún na Meán and filmed at Telegael Studios in Galway.
