“Mindfulness is awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgementally”. John Kabat-Zinn
Mindfulness is about bringing your attention to the present moment, the here and now. Without judgement and with kindness.
Creative Mindfulness for children, as inspired by the beautiful work of Louise Shanagher, focuses on promoting positive mental health and wellbeing, in fun and creative ways. The practice uses secular mindfulness and therefore is not affiliated with any religion or religious beliefs. It is entirely open to everybody. Creative Mindfulness activities when practiced regularly, will help children to understand and to learn how to cope when difficult emotions arise and will help teach them how to deal with any specific difficulties that they may have such as dealing with anger or anxiety, for example. Children will learn about self- compassion and kindness and know that that they are amazing just as they are! Children will also learn about gratitude and will learn to appreciate all the wonderful things that they already have in their life.
