Active Approaches to Teaching and Learning of Literacy

This Summer course will take participants on a journey through the Primary Language Curriculum and how we can develop its three strands throughout the Primary School. It promises to be a highly engaging and interactive course with each student making a journal of their journey as they delve into the world of Oral Language, Reading and Writing. There will be an emphasis on children’s literature, active approaches to learning in Literacy. The five-day course will be broken up into short manageable chunks of learning with opportunities for reflection and discussion.

Participants can be assured of a very welcoming and non-threatening approach to language learning together.

Dates: Mon 12th to Fri 16th July 2021 (Course limited to 25 participants)

Facilitator: Catherine Gilliland is an experienced teacher, Literacy trainer and storyteller. Her work is described as inspirational, and she represented Ireland at the World Literacy Summit. She is widely published and has spoken at many conferences in Ireland and across Europe. Her webinars over the past year have been very well received by teachers across many education centres.
