EAL – ENGLISH AS AN ADDITIONAL LANGUAGE
There is a lot of expertise and good practice around the country in relation to the inclusion of students with SEN. This Support Group helps to provide a forum where teachers can share this knowledge and experiencewith others, particularly those who are new to SEN.
For this next meeting on 1st November, the support group will discuss teachers’ practice in relation to teaching pupils with English as an Additional Language (EAL). All teachers will be invited to share their experiences within this community of practice. We would ask that teachers bring a list of resources they currently use to share with the group and in this way, we can learn from one another. EAL is an expanding area and we are all learning so this will be of interest to all teachers, both mainstream and SET. The facilitator will give a 10-minute introduction to EAL and this will be used as the foundation for discussion in small groups that will feed back to the main group.
