DramaCast is a joint educational production between An Grianán Theatre and Workhouse Theatre Company, produced by Patricia McBride and directed by Iarla McGowan. The creative director is Michael Kelly from Saint Eunan's College, Letterkenny.
Key moments from three plays on the English post-primary curriculum (Macbeth, Philadelphia Here I Come! and Romeo and Juliet) have been performed and filmed on the stage of An Grianán Theatre. The films are now freely available to students and teachers at angrianan.com. with commentary from Michael Kelly and Iarla Mc Gowan.
Teachers and students can use this resource in the classroom as they prepare for exams as it is specifically Linked to the Leaving Cert and Junior Cert post-primary curriculum.
This webinar will explain the background and all the various features of DramaCast and how it can be used as a teaching and learning resource. Features like commentary from various perspectives, character freeze frames of significant lines and the use of subtitles will be explored.
Michael Kelly (St. Eunan’s College, Letterkenny) and Iarla McGowan (Workhouse Theatre Company) will lead the webinar. There will also be contributions from the technical staff of An Grianán Theatre.
Michael Kelly has been a valuable member of the teaching staff at Saint Eunan’s College, Letterkenny for almost 20 years. He is the current Head of the English Department and has an MA in English Literature
Iarla McGowan is an actor and director from Letterkenny, Co. Donegal.
He is a founding member of Workhouse Theatre Company, with whom he has directed productions such as The Weir (2009) Aristocrats (2011) and Lungs (2019).
