Mayo County Council in association with AXA Insurancewould like to invite you to AXA/Mayo Road Safety Roadshow.
The Mayo Road Safety Roadshow has been running in Mayo since 2007 and has proved to be very informative. It depicts graphically how a night out ended in tragedy and permanent disability for one young driver. As you know, for the health and safety of all, the gathering of large crowds is prohibited under Ireland’s public health guidance. Taking these recommendations into consideration, we are proposing to live stream the road safe roadshow into schools. This year’s event will be take place on Thursday the 22nd of April at 11am. We will be staging this event as usual in a venue with the normal presenters but with no audience, we will live stream this event in association with the MayoEducationCentre, giving all schools a log in password which will allow them to show the event to their students without leaving their class rooms. This would result in all schools still been able to avail of the road safety education program been delivered in this current climate while adhering to government guidelines.
The Roadshow is aimed at 4th year and/or transition year students and the objective of the show is to encourage young drivers, and those about to commence their driving career to adopt a more responsible attitude in terms of their own driving behaviour. The consequences, should they fail to do so, will be clearly and graphically demonstrated.During the show, young people will have an opportunity to benefit from presentations made by An Garda Síochana, Ambulance Service, Fire Service, Consultant based within A&E Department in Mayo University Hospital, A family member of a deceased road traffic accident victim and a car crash survivor.
We believe that this is a very worthwhile event, which will hopefully leave a lasting positive impression on the young people who watch this webinar.
Schools can register for this event and share with their class teachers or individual class teachers can register themselves by clicking on the login button below.
