(SM-22-222) Developing Advanced Educational Research Skills with Practicing Teachers Designing a school-based research project with University of Lincoln

VACANCY: Technical Post in Geoinformatics at the University of Lincoln - National Technician Centre

This long-standing course run with the University of Lincoln, UK, is aimed at teachers who wish to learn more about how to conduct educational research. The course will explore the process of taking an area of interest or concern (a ‘research problem’) and turning this into a researchable project through the generation of appropriate research questions and/or hypotheses. Participants will also be introduced to some key features of research design, including research ethics, access issues and researcher positionality. As such, it aims to support teachers and educational leaders in undertaking research in their own schools. Irish PhD students of the University of Lincoln will be in attendance to discuss their research and contribute to workshops and seminars. Teachers wishing to write a PhD research proposal will be supported and provided with feedback.

Facilitators: Joss Winn, Helen Childerhouse, Maria Lopez-Romero and Terence Karran from the University of Lincoln.

The University of Lincoln, UK, is rated among the UK's top 20 universities for student satisfaction in the Guardian University Guide 2022 and the Complete University Guide 2022 and in the top 30 UK universities overall in the WhatUni Student Choice Awards 2020.
